In this episode of Changing China, Jaime FlorCruz looks back at his years at Peking University, where he received a bachelor's degree in Chinese history.

He also explains how education helped propel Chinese society to become what it is now.

Since the People's Republic of China was founded in 1949, the country has been changing. Witness to many landmark changes was FlorCruz, who first arrived in the country from the Philippines in 1971 for a 3-week study tour.

But due to the worsening political situation back home, FlorCruz got stuck in China. He went on to become a journalist for TIME Magazine and CNN, covering China's highs and lows for more than 30 years.

In this special CGTN series entitled "Changing China," FlorCruz looks back at some changes he's witnessed throughout the years.
