As the emblem of the Macau Special Administrative Region, the blooming lotus flower couldn't be a better symbol of people's aspiration for prosperity in this region. Together with its refreshing color, the lotus flower has been admired by many as the ambassador of elegance.

However, lotus flower is always confused with water lily since they both share a great similarity in appearance. What differentiates the two is that lotus flower, along with its leaves, are some distance above the water, while water lily floats directly on the water surface.
