The People's Republic of China has been changing since its founding in 1949.

Cultural norms, for example, have changed a lot.

Now, China is more open to foreign cultures.

In this episode of "Changing China", Jaime FlorCruz shares how China has transformed culturally, at the same time worked to keep its own traditional culture alive.

Having lived in China for nearly five decades, FlorCruz has become a formidable witness to many changes in the country.

He first arrived in China from the Philippines in 1971 for a 3-week study tour. But due to the worsening political situation back home, FlorCruz got stuck in China. He went on to become a journalist for TIME magazine and CNN, covering China's highs and lows for over 30 years.

"Changing China" is a 6-part feature series of CGTN, with FlorCruz looking back at some changes he's witnessed throughout the years.
