Two-time NBA MVP and three-time NBA champion, Stephen Curry has never shied away from showing his love for golf. The Golden State Warriors point guard picked up the club during Wednesday's Safeway Open Pro-Am round.

"I mean obviously I love golf first and foremost, supporting the PGA Tour and being in the (San Francisco) Bay Area, this is home. So we got a lot of Warriors fans here and this is my third time I think playing in the Pro-Am," Curry told reporters.

The avid golfer with a 0.6 handicap was paired with one of the stalwarts of the sport, Phil Mickelson at the Silverado Resort in Napa. The Warriors shooter said, "So, just excited to be out here, enjoying the game, get to play with Phil (Mickelson). I never met him, get to play with him, see his ball flight and all that type of stuff. It's been pretty cool."

While sharing his experience of rubbing shoulders with the superstar golfer, Curry further added, "Oh it's amazing. He's a really a down to earth guy. We're only on the what, fourth hole, and he's giving me a couple of pointers, talking about transformation with his body and how he approaches offseason, which we're both coming off an offseason. So it's been pretty cool and a guy like him and all his success to be down to earth and approachable, it means a lot."

Curry has been quite active in the golfing circuit with his occasional appearances in a slew of Pro-Am events in the past as well. His connection with golf runs deep as he has discussed hosting a PGA Tour event in the Oakland area, hosted an ABC mini-golf show called Holey Moley, and just last week, released a Curry signature golf apparel line for Under Armour.

"They (basketball and golf) require a lot of the same traits in terms of focus, perseverance, and being able to deal with the highs and lows. For me, it's a nice place to get away. The season's 82 games and it's a gauntlet and this is my happy place out here, get some fresh air, be with some great people and you can still compete too, no matter what level you're on. For me, that's been a part of my life for a very long time," Curry said, explaining how he juggles between two sports, one his profession, the other his second passion.
