In this episode of "Changing China", Jaime FlorCruz looks at how the status of women in China has changed over the years.

The founding of the People's Republic of China, and later the implementation of the reform and opening-up policy, offered new possibilities and allowed the pursuit of new goals and dreams.

Jaime FlorCruz says China has become more inclusive, providing more freedom and opportunities to women. He has also witnessed great changes in people's freedom to acknowledge their sexual orientation.

Having lived in China for nearly five decades, FlorCruz has seen many changes in the country.

He first arrived in China from the Philippines in 1971 for a three-week study tour. But due to the worsening political situation back home, FlorCruz got stuck in China.

He went on to become a journalist for TIME magazine and CNN, covering China's highs and lows for over 30 years.
