China on Thursday deplored and strongly opposed the passing of the "Hong Kong Human Rights and Democracy Act of 2019" by U.S. congressional committees.

China strongly urges some U.S. Congress members to immediately stop pushing the review of the Hong Kong-related act and stop meddling in Hong Kong affairs and interfering in China's internal affairs, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Geng Shuang said in a statement released Thursday morning.
