First UAE astronaut takes off for the International Space Station

The United Arab Emirates sent its first astronaut to space on Wednesday. Hazza Ali Almansoori was an Emirati F-16 pilot before he was selected for astronaut training in 2018. The Soyuz spacecraft carrying him and two other astronauts blasted off to the International Space Station from a Russian spaceport in Kazakhstan.
