In August 2014, China's top legislature approved September 30 to be commemorated as Martyr's Day across the nation. A commemorative ceremony for Martyrs' Day is being held at the Monument to the People's Heroes in Tian'anmen Square. Representatives from all walks of life are gathered there, waiting in line to pay tribute to the men and women who lost their lives fighting for freedom and the country's sovereignty. President Xi Jinping joins the commemoration and presents flowers to martyrs.
