The Richmond Tigers mauled the Greater Western Sydney Giants with a 89-point humiliation to win their second Australian Football League (AFL) title in three years on Saturday in the season-ending Grand Final in Melbourne on Saturday.

It was a sheer dominance on display at a sold-out Melbourne Cricket Ground as the terrific Tigers went berserk against their hapless opponents and steamrolled them to a 17.12 (114) - 3.7 (25) win.

There were more than 100,000 fans in the stands as the team from Melbourne took on the side from Sydney. The home side, wearing their popular black-and-gold jersey, came out firing on all cylinders as they started showcasing their brute power and pulverizing pressure from the word go. They went on to score an emphatic 11 successive goals to kill off the contest shortly after half-time and accomplished a remarkably lop-sided victory.

Veteran forward Jack Riewoldt spearheaded his side's goal-fest with five goals and midfield maestro Dustin Martin added four for the Tigers to send the home supporters into raptures.

Two years ago, the Tigers thrashed the Adelaide Crows by 48 points to pocket the 2017 title-decider and with tonight's resounding victory, Damien Hardwick's team clinched their 12th championship at their home stadium.

Meanwhile, for the Giants, the morale-crushing defeat saw them registering their lowest ever score in a championship match.
