Chinese ambassador to France Lu Shaye said cultural exchanges between China and France could lead the trends for cultural communication and dialogues around the world.

The ambassador made the comments at a reception held by the Chinese embassy on Wednesday, to mark the 70th anniversary of the founding of People's Republic of China.

At least 700 guests including Laurent Fabius, president of the French Constitutional Council, Didier Guillaume, French Minister of Agriculture and Hélène Conway-Mouret, vice president of French Senate, as well as a number of representatives from international organizations and foreign embassies in France attended the event.

Lu Shaye, who was appointed as the Chinese Ambassador to France in August, delivered a speech at the reception, saying that China and France have great potentials in cooperation covering the areas of tackling climate change, protecting the biodiversity, aviation, nuclear energy, as well as agriculture, education, medical and culture.

Lu also received the interview of reporters from "Celebrate China @ 70" media group led by Cyberspace Administration of China and Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

"Culture is the bridge of communication between people," Lu said to CGTN. "We admire and like each other's culture. In the new historical period, the mutual learning between Chinese and French culture actually leads the cultural dialogue and exchange of the world.”

The embassy held another reception on Thursday for the overseas Chinese, including staff of Chinese organizations in France, students, Chinese teachers and volunteers. A total of 800 people attended the event.
