China is holding its sixth Martyrs' Day event at Tian'anmen Square in Beijing on Monday morning.

Chinese President Xi Jinping, along with other leaders of the Communist Party of China and the state, joined representatives from all walks of life in presenting flower baskets to deceased national heroes.

President Xi also presented a flower basket at the Monument to the People's Heroes.

In August 2014, China's top legislature approved September 30 to be commemorated as Martyr's Day across the nation.
