The Los Angeles Clippers held their Media Day event on Saturday. As the biggest winner on the trade market this season and one of the biggest championship contenders in the new season, the team received as much attention as the Los Angeles Lakers did on Friday.

Paul George and Kawhi Leonard, probably the league's best forward partners in the new season, expressed their willingness to play for Team U.S.A. in the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo.

"I would love to be a part of the Olympics and represent, but this comes first. Hopefully, in June we're the last team standing and I'm healthy. I'm in," said George, according to Arash Markazi of the Los Angeles Times.

"I do want to play (in the Olympics). But I'm taking it one step at a time. Right now, it's about taking the Clippers to the Finals," said Leonard, according to Mark Medina of USA Today.

George won the gold medal with Team U.S.A. at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. By contrast, Leonard has never played for the national team. Before these two, multiple superstars including Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green, Damian Lillard, LeBron James and James Harden have already expressed their interest in playing for the national team. If George and Leonard could join the franchise, Team U.S.A. will only become further unstoppable.

Though Leonard seemed like a really quiet guy, what he did this summer – keeping his decision a secret, recruiting George, signing a 2+1 contract with the Clippers – all told something about his ambition. He already won two championships - with the San Antonio Spurs (2014) and the Toronto Raptors (2019) - but apparently he wanted more.

"That (winning the NBA championship in three different teams) would be a great accomplishment. That feat would be something to talk about once I'm done playing, and being able to do that in my hometown would be amazing… I want to make history," said Leonard to Yahoo Sports.

So far there are only two players who have won rings in three different teams in league history, Robert Horry and John Salley, and they were both role players. James has been trying to become the first team leader to achieve that in the Lakers after helping the Miami Heat (2012, 2013) and the Cleveland Cavaliers (2016) win the title. Moreover, fairly speaking, Leonard was not truly a leader when the Spurs won it in 2014. Nonetheless, if he can bring the Clippers' first Larry O' Brien to the team, it will still be an excellent success.

Though Leonard was named the Finals MVP (Most Valued Player) last season, George was a better player in the longer term, especially before he was held back by shoulder problems. Having averaged 28 points, 8.2 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 2.2 steals per game - all career highs - George made the All-NBA First Team and the All-Defensive First Team. He was even considered as an MVP candidate after Giannis Antetokounmpo and Harden.

"It's going to be scary with myself, Trez (Montrezl Harrell), Kawhi, Moe (Harkless), Rodney (McGruder). I mean, we really got a chance to do something special on the defensive end… I honestly think for the first time, people are going to be excited to watch the defensive side as opposed to watching the offensive teams. It's going to be fun," said George, according to Yahoo Sports.

The Clippers will start the 2019-20 regular season with the LA derby at the Staples Center on October 22.
