Spectacular fireworks marking the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China (PRC) illuminated the night sky of Beijing on Tuesday after a day of activities celebrating China's National Day. The event kicked off a 90-minute gala at Tian'anmen Square with Chinese leaders and people from all walks of life coming together to witness a magical night of music and performances. A total of 70 firework columns were placed along Chang'an Avenue, representing the 70 years since New China was founded. The number 70 was formed by the colorful eruptions of the fireworks, marking the 70th anniversary of PRC's founding.
