At 8:00 a.m. on October 1, a National Day flag-raising ceremony was held at Golden Bauhinia Square in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. Chief Secretary for Administration of Hong Kong Matthew Cheung Kin-chung attended the National Day reception. Also, Hong Kong's Lam Tin district spontaneously organized the same ceremony while people from all walks of life celebrate the 70th birthday of the PRC in various ways.
