China's Liu Shiying and Lyu Huihui claim 2nd, 3rd place in Doha

Chinese athletes Liu Shiying and Lv Huihui claimed 2nd and 3rd place in javelin at the world athletics championships in Doha on Thursday. Australia's Kelsey-Lee Barber won gold with a game-turning 66.56m in her final attempt, with silver going to Liu (65.88m) and bronze to Lyu (65.49m).

Lyu, champion of this year's IAAF Diamond League had a good start of 64.93m at her first attempt, while Liu made it to 64.81m, ranking first and second after the first round.

The two and Christin Hussong of Germany - who achieved an amazing 65.06m in her second attempt - maintained their top three positions till after the fourth round, in which none of them achieved new records. 

In the third round, 38-year-old Barbora Spotakova of the Czech Republic who holds world record of 72.28m, missed her chance for the last three attempts with a 59.87m ranking 9th.

It was in the fifth round that China's Liu Shiying and Lyu Huihui achieved the results that eventually won them results.

Australia's Kelsey Lee-Barber who ranked fourth before the final round brought herself to the top spot with a game-winning 66.56m. Earlier in Lucerne in July, she achieved her personal best this year so far, 67.70m.
