October 1, 2019 is a big day not just for me, but the whole nation of China. Three days before the National Day, I had a chance to attend the premiere of the film "My People, My Country" and talked with some of the cast and audiences. On the 70th birthday of the People's Republic of China (PRC), we attended the night gala at downtown Beijing's Tian'anmen Square. A sharp contrast from the previous such occasions, we found no celebrity artists there. People from all walks of life gathered to perform and enjoy themselves while giving their happy birthday wishes to the country. Where do the performers come from? How long have they been practicing? This is how Chinese people welcome PRC's 70th birthday.
