Nearly a thousand students in Qingdao, in east China's Shandong province, spent hours painting symbols, such as a the red flag, "70 years", and 1949, to celebrate the founding of the People's Republic of China.

While in Shanghai, more than 1,100 students and 200 teachers, some of whom represent more than 30 countries and regions, gathered on the playground to sing "Me and My Motherland" to celebrate the National Day. Emma, a student from Argentina said: "I think it's really fun. Although it's kind of hot, the songs are nice to listen to. Shanghai is a very nice city. It makes me feel very safe. And it makes me happy because I can go and be a teenager and have a nice life with my friends."

Art installations in Shanghai kept with the spirit of the national spirit celebrations. Laurent Lettree, an artist said: "Our key message is about harmony. Each human has a beating heart, and each human has emotion, and so we want to connect humans together."

Hong Kong residents gathered to sing the national anthem in honor of the holiday, while more good wishes are pouring in from across the country, as the festivities continue.
