On its 70th birthday, my country has once-again wowed me. This is my first time watching the national day military parade, and this year—the largest ever—has put China's military strength and national unity on full display. This is a country that has made remarkable progress over the years, improving the livelihood of its citizens, reducing poverty by some 80 million people, developing its military might with high-tech armament, and reassuring the mission for world peace and stability, while giving credit to those who fight hard—including veterans and national heroes— to make all this possible. This is a country of hope, unity and prosperity and I am so proud to be a part of it. Happy birthday China; happy birthday to my country.
