Sichuan Province in southwest China is rich in bamboo, and its output accounts for about one-fifth of the total amount in the country. Bamboo is a versatile plant that can be used as an environmentally friendly material to build houses or make utensils.
What makes bamboo in Sichuan Province unusual is the widely-extending bamboo woods, and Shunan Bamboo Sea located in Yibin City in the south of Sichuan Province is a good example. It is the largest natural bamboo forest in the world with more than 400 kinds of bamboo in the area.
