Hong Kong police on Wednesday released footage of Tuesday's shooting incident, which was in response to a life-threatening situation. At about 16:00 Tuesday, a large group of rioters attacked officers with iron poles in Tsuen Wan, seriously threatening their lives. Having given warning but in vain, an officer fired a shot at a male attacker.
According to the video clips at the press conference of the police, the attacker joined a group of rioters who are chasing an officer. After the officer fell onto the ground, they continued to attack him with hammers and iron poles. A few seconds later, the attacker approached another police officer nearby, and hit the officer with an iron pole. Then the officer fired at the man.
So far, the attacker was injured and rushed to Princess Margaret Hospital in conscious state.
