Native to Central and South America, the globe amaranth has become a popular ornamental plant, dotting many gardens around the world. People love its vivid color. What's even more special is that globe amaranth retains its shape and color after drying, making it a preferred plant in landscape design.

The globe amaranth holds a special place in Nepali culture. The flower is used to make garlands during the five-day Deepawali festival in the country. Nepali women put the garlands around the necks of their brothers, hoping their brothers will have a long life, just like the longevity of the globe amaranth.
