The MTR announced on Saturday that all its services covering the Airport Express, Light Rail and MTR, will remain suspended after radical protesters committed destructive acts across Kowloon, Hong Kong Island, and the New Territories in Hong Kong on Friday.

The announcement came after a full-scale suspension of the MTR at roughly 10:30 p.m. on Friday, as the protesters set fires, smashed up glass panels of shops, and vandalized facilities at a number of stations.

"The maintenance staff has to make sure of their own safety before they could travel to the damaged stations to inspect and assess the extent of damages at our stations, and to carry out repair works," MTR said in a statement.
