Joachim Low, manager of the German national football team, told press on Friday that Manuel Neuer, the team's captain, will still be his first-choice goalkeeper. His decision put an end to a popular question of who should be Germany's first-choice goalkeeper?
"We can all be happy that we have two world-class goalkeepers in Manuel Neuer and Marc-Andre ter Stegen. I have absolutely no worries over this position, and we also know what (reserve goalkeepers) Kevin Trapp and Bernd Leno can do. I have said several times already that Manuel Neuer is our captain and No. 1 with a view to the European Championship, as long as nothing extraordinary happens," said Low.
Low also revealed that ter Stegen will play in the friendly game against Argentina on October 9, Neuer will play in the European qualifier game against Estonia on October 13.

Germany has been known for growing excellent goalkeepers and Neuer is one, but not the only one, of them. 27-year-old ter Stegen who has already won four straight La Liga championships, four consecutive Copa del Rey titles and the 2014-15 UEFA Champions League trophy with Barcelona, is tired of waiting.
"It is not easy to find an explanation (for nor starting) as I am giving the best account of myself in every game to make the decision more difficult. I am nonetheless trying (to become the first-choice goalkeeper), but this trip with the national team has been a tough blow for me. It drives me a bit mad. You give the best of yourself and you aren't where you want to be. I have established my priorities. I want to be successful and the big objective I have is to be the first-choice keeper for my country," said ter Stegen last month,

Neuer soon responded by talking to Sky: "Of course I noticed that. Basically, I think we are a team and we should do everything we can to perform like one. I don't know if this will help us as a team. We have great goalkeepers. We have Kevin Trapp, Bernd Leno, these are all great goalkeepers who also want to play and then sit on the bench. We are a team. We have to stick together. The goalkeepers also have to stick together."
Ter Stegen apparently did not like his captain's response. "That's football. A lot of the time you're happy, but there are also other feelings. I have expectations and I have to express them. You can see how I have behaved in recent years and I don't think that Neuer or others have to talk about my feeling or assess them. His remarks were inappropriate but I don't want to say much more, I want to bring an end to all this controversy," said the 27-year-old.
Finally, Low, the team's boss, came out and ended the controversy.
