In 2001, the U.S. initiated the first airstrike against the Taliban, in retaliation to the 9/11 terror attacks. The Taliban's base in Afghanistan collapsed after two months, but conflicts dragged on. Even in 2019, the Afghan people continue to bear the brunt of the impact, especially the younger generations.
