White lions are rare color mutation of the African lion. The worldwide population of white lions is currently less than 300. On October 2, a rare white lion pigeon pair was born in the Jinan Wildlife Park in eastern China's Shandong Province. A few days after birth, the twins opened their eyes and were in good health.

Born during China's National Day holiday, the cubs were lovingly called "National Day babies" by the zoo keepers. The keepers took meticulous care of them round-the-clock.

The park has a total of three adult white lions, one male and two females. One lioness gave birth to the twins this time. It is also the first successful breeding of the white lions in the park.
