If someone asks me what is the most touching memory of 2019, I would say my wife giving me a lovely daughter on May 30. Yet when it comes to my work at CGTN, I would like to say, it is the "70 YEARS OF DIPLOMACY" series.

The idea came from Chu Meng, one of the line producers of the General News team in early June, and it was soon approved. With the excellent work of our four writers, Han Lin, Ma Ke, Zheng Weiyu, You Yang and four video editors, Meng Tao, Yang Xiao, Liu Mengshi and Li Shiyu, I, as the director of the project, got the first-hand materials in a very short time.

Then comes the question, how to make the words on the A4 paper become easily accepted by the audience, especially on the topic of China's diplomacy for the past 70 years. The answer is, we have to tell some really good stories.

We used ink and brushes to write down our respects to those engaged in China's diplomatic events from 1949 to the present, remembering their names and faces.

We created an old office out of nothing, from a logo cover, to the big solid wood book shelves, from the red telephone on the desk, to the projection machine in the middle. We had our anchor Zou Yue in the office, telling the stories of how New China was finding its feet.

We also used green-screen technology and had anchor Dongning walk through handmade drawings, to tell the story in a unique way, restoring the historic moments, and uncovering never-before reviewed diplomatic events.

We climbed the Jinshanling Great Wall at four in the morning, to the top in darkness to reach its highest tower, with tens of kilograms of camera equipment, to shoot the footage of the sun jumping out of the horizon.

In Beijing, we went to the office of the government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, the Bird's Nest stadium, the central business district, the secretariat of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, Xiangshan Hotel and the Yanqi Lake international conference center. By visiting these diplomatic places, we can see our country is getting stronger than ever before.

We had the opportunity to interview officials and public figures such as former ambassador to Germany Mei Zhaorong and deputy directors from the China Institute of Studies. By listening to their professional perspectives, we feel that there is nothing trivial about diplomacy.

The "70 years of diplomacy" series has left us with so many memories. And it's not just about the important people we interviewed, the beautiful scenery we enjoyed, or the meaningful diplomatic places we visited. It's also about the teamwork that I will always cherish, and that, is the coolest part of this journey.
