The Beijing International Horticultural Exhibition, the world's largest of its kind, closed on October 10 after six months of grand public showcase displaying everything the world had to offer regarding flowers, plants, as well as innovation in the horticulture sector.
The site, which spreads over 5.03 square kilometers at the foot of the Great Wall in Beijing's Yanqing district, will be turned into an education base of ecological culture, said Zhou Jianping, executive deputy director of the expo's coordination bureau.
Zhou said the site's environment and auxiliary facilities will enable it to become an eco-tourism destination and a supporting facility for the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing.
The site will also function as a demonstration plot for horticultural industry innovations.
