Nepali President Bidya Devi Bhandari paid a state visit to China and attended the second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation in Beijing in April this year.
Hou said Nepali people told her the Belt and Road Initiative has transformed Nepal from a land-locked country, with no direct access to the sea, to a land-connected country.
Nepal hopes to speed up the construction of the trans-Himalayan multi-dimensional connectivity, and promote cooperation under the China-proposed Belt and Road Initiative to new heights, she added.
China is now Nepal's largest investor and second-largest trade partner.
In 2018, trade between China and Nepal reached 1.1 billion U.S. dollars, an increase of 11.7 percent year-on-year, official data showed.
Chinese companies have also been the main force behind the Nepal engineering contracting market, and have signed contracts worth a total of 5.45 billion U.S. dollars by the end of 2018, according to the Chinese Embassy.
