Short video app Vskit is becoming one of Africa's leading entertainment platforms. The China-made app gathered over 10 million African users within the first year of its launch - making it a favorite for many youngsters in Nigeria as well as people in the entertainment industry.

Vskit is a short video app for creating and sharing hilarious and interesting videos.

The era of social media also comes with the desire for self-expression through new media, especially since a significant percentage of the new media users are young.

Vskit provides a simple platform for the ever growing social media populace to express themselves and easily showcase their talents to the world.

It's user-friendly interface allows users the flexibility of sharing videos they have created with their followers on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp, etc., providing an irresistible motivation for users, especially the young, to consistently strut their talents ranging from humorous videos to habitual lifestyles and even opinions on trendy social issues to the world.

Nigerian Comedian and movie producer Innocent Muogbo is known as the man of many talents. He is one of the many users leveraging on the app.

The accounting graduate who veered into the entertainment industry some three years back is an avid user of Vskit. He is fascinated by some of its features.

"It's cool, it's nice, it gives you so much opportunity to do plenty things that other apps would actually not do, like you being able to play music as your background song to whatever you're doing. For other apps, you have to edit it, but this would help you do them together immediately. Then you get to do crazy stuff, skits, you get to do duets too with other people for maybe a trending skit that is online. I think it's a very interesting app," he said.

With the progressive increase in social media users, Vskit is expected to enjoy continuous relevance as long as an improvement is initiated to further provide creative features and content to optimally meet the needs of its growing users.

One of the areas of improvement that Innocent and perhaps many other users look forward to is an extension of timing or duration for the videos.

"Vskit can try to apportion more time because I tried to do one or two skits and found out it was 15 seconds. So, they should apportion more time. Maybe 30 seconds according to what they feel, so that it gives us enough opportunity to explore and do more creative stuff.  So, I think basically apart from the time, they're really good," the user said.

Social media users continue to increase progressively. Total number of social media users worldwide hit 3.484 billion – up by 9 percent this year alone. This is an indication that apps like Vskit would continue to be relevant as long as creative features and contents are improved to meet the desires of users.
