Arsenal's former manager Arsene Wenger this week talked to beIN Sports about Real Madrid and Eden Hazard, whom the La Liga giant reportedly spent 100 million euros (about 113 million U.S. dollars) bringing to the Bernabeu in June. Wenger spoke highly of the Belgian winger but did not think he could replace Cristiano Ronaldo.
"He (Hazard) will be the answer but not in replacing Ronaldo, that is for sure. He will not score 50 goals a year because that's now how they play football. They need another goalscorer at Real Madrid because (Karim) Benzema is now 32 and if they had someone younger around him to score the goals, maybe they could do very well," said Wenger.

Having played in total six games for Real Madrid, Hazard only scored one goal and one assist for the club. One of the reasons behind such underperformance was injury and another was the fact that Zinedine Zidane, the team's manager, has not figured out how to use Hazard yet.
Zidane's success, when he was coaching Real Madrid last time, was largely built on the extraordinary scoring efficiency of Ronaldo. Zidane's team was often at a disadvantage in the game but ended up claiming more victories, all because Ronaldo helped the team meet the simplest rule of football: scoring more goals than your opponents.

However, that's not how Hazard plays. Unlike the five-time FIFA Ballon d'Or-winning Portuguese super star, Hazard carries more penetrating and passing responsibilities in the game. What's needed is a better finisher as a teammate. Unfortunately, Benzema may be the only qualified choice Real Madrid have at the moment.
Though Hazard and the club are still in a wear-in, Wenger, who watched him play for years in the Premier League, has confidence in the Belgian star: "Eden Hazard is an exceptional player to create chances, to sometimes finish when he needs to in the big games. He's not scared of anybody - I don't think Real have yet to see the real Hazard, he's not as sharp physically as he can be. That's why I believe they will discover the real Hazard."
