Football World Rankings this week released its latest rankings of the world's football clubs. Barcelona from La Liga remained as top 1 on the table, followed by the English Premier League's Liverpool  and River Plate from Argentina's Primera División. Two Chinese clubs, Guangzhou Evergrande and Shanghai SIPG ranked No. 27 and No. 28 respectively.

The company said that it calculated the football rankings the way the ATP World Tennis Rankings were made.

"The match results are weighted when converted to World Ranking Points, because not every match is equally important; not every domestic competition of international cup tournament is equally strong; not every domestic competition has the same number of matches; not every FIFA Confederation is equally strong," wrote Football World Rankings on its website.

Premier League and La Liga both contributed two clubs to the top 5 rankings. No. 2 Liverpool and No. 4 Manchester City are from England while No. 1 Barcelona and No. 5 Valencia are from Spain. Real Madrid ranked No. 6, followed by Boca Juniors of Argentina. Two Brazilian teams, Athletico Paranaense and Palmeiras were No. 8 and No. 9. Chelsea took the last spot of top 10.

Bayern Munich acquired the Bundesliga's highest ranking of No. 13, followed by Al Hilal from Saudi Arabia. No. 14 was also the highest ranking among all Asian clubs. No. 19 Juventus became the highest-ranking Italian team and Ajax from Netherlands was one spot behind as their country's best.

CSL's Evergrande and SIPG though trailed Paris Saint-Germain and Porto, the two Chinese teams ranked higher than the best of Japan (Kashima Antlers, No. 30) and South Korea (Ulsan, No. 31).

Manchester United continued to see their ranking drop from No. 45 to No. 46, thanks to their performance in Premier League. Having won only three games so far, the Red Devil are currently 12th place in the Premier League and only two points away from the relegation zone. Considering that they will meet Liverpool, who have won all eight of their domestic games so far, on October 20 at home, don't be surprised if Man United struggle to stay in the top flight for the rest of this season.
