To celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China (PRC) and present a panoramic view of the country's great journey, the 24-episode documentary "On the Road" focuses on the great achievements and valuable experiences of people of all ethnic groups in the socialist revolution, construction and reform over the past 70 years. It also recounts touching stories and important events in the country since 1949.

The seventh episode of the series looks at how the Communist Party of China (CPC), in the course of leading the people to meet the challenges, gained valuable theoretical and practical experience.

The 20th Congress of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union convened on February 14, 1956. It was a meeting that would expose shortcomings and mistakes in the way socialism was being built there. The Communist Party of China, which was still in the process of establishing socialism, paid close attention.

"The most important thing is to think independently and integrate the universal truth of Marxism-Leninism with the concrete practice of the Chinese revolution and construction. Now that we have entered the period of socialist revolution and construction, we should carry out a second integration and explore a path for socialist construction in China," said the late Chinese leader Mao Zedong.
