Located in Horqin Right Middle Banner in north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, the Mono Maple Nature Reserve was established to preserve open forests of elms and mono maples, as well as the habitat for bird species.

Covering an area of over 61,600 hectares, the reserve is home to grassland, wetland, and open forest ecosystems.
