In Tongbo Mountains in east China's Jiangxi Province, people may be surprised by patches of green growing on the dry, rocky cliffs. The evergreen plant spikemoss, also named the resurrection plant, finds a way to survive in that hard territory.
Under particularly dry conditions, the plant's roots may be uprooted to roll up into brown balls above the ground. Once there is enough moisture, the roots will return back into the soil and the plant turns green again.
