Chinese President Xi Jinping has said that promoting sustainable development through scientific and technological innovation has become the only way to solve some major global issues of common concern. 

President Xi made the remarks in a congratulatory letter to the 1st World Science and Technology Development Forum, which opened in Beijing on Wednesday. 

Xi said in the letter that a new round of sci-tech revolution and industrial transformation has had a profound impact on the evolution of human civilization and the development of the global governance system. 

China has always adhered to opening-up and insisted on integrating UN's sustainable development agenda with China's development strategies and national conditions to achieve higher quality, more efficient, equitable and sustainable development, he added. 

The Chinese president hoped that the forum will promote cooperation among scientists, educators and entrepreneurs from different countries to exchange ideas, deepen cooperation, and contribute wisdom and strength for the building of a community with shared future for mankind.
