Three emails sent to U.S. Senator Josh Hawley, Senator Ted Cruz and 60 Minutes (an American television program) by an American living in China's Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) were posted on Singapore's BBS website SG Talk on Thursday. The email condemned the U.S. senators and the show for "violating and undermining all rules of law of HK," and termed their comments on the HKSAR situation as "single-sided view" of violence happening in the city.
The two senators claimed they had not seen violence on the part of the protesters during their recent visit to the region.

"I am an American living in HK. And for you to come to this city, claim you see no violence in your short limited time here, and give unquestioned support to those who are destroying this city is an affront to all intelligent law-abiding peaceful people who live here," read one of the emails.
"They are committing the most horrendous acts of violence against fellow human beings. Yet you support them," the email stressed.

As for the TV show, the American said that he/she was dismayed by its single-sided view of violent protests in the HKSAR, calling for the show to "do some research before reporting."
"All against the citizens (residents) in Hong Kong who, if you had done your research, might find them to be a majority," the email writer said.

"The majority of people living here are living now in fear, not because of anything China has done, but what the protesters, and those of you who are enabling them are doing," the writer highlighted these words at the end of one of the three emails.
Office of the Commissioner of the Chinese Foreign Ministry in the HKSAR also expressed indignation over ludicrous remarks made by Cruz in the HKSAR, warning him to "stop running amok on China's land."
