Royal stables at world heritage site catches fire in Turin, Italy

Firefighters have put out a fire that destroyed one-fourth of the roof of the Cavallerizza Reale, a UNESCO World Heritage site in the center of Italy's northern city of Turin, on October 21, 2019. /VCG Photo

The area that caught fire was used for the royal stables, while the building was built around 300 years ago as an academy for senior royal officers. /VCG Photo

The fire started at around 8 a.m. and had burned out the top area before it was extinguished, according to ABC News. The cause is unknown. /VCG Photo
