Final nominations for this year's Golden Rooster Awards

The 32nd Golden Rooster Awards unveiled this year's final nominations for 19 sectors in Beijing on Tuesday, with "Dying to Survive" leading with eight nominations.

The film, directed by Wen Muye, was nominated for awards including Best Feature Film, Best Director Debut, Best Screenplay and Best Actor.

Films "Us and Them," "So Long, My Son," "The Wandering Earth" and "Legend of Demon Cat" were nominated for five awards each.

As one of China's top three film awards, the Golden Rooster is the only one given by the China Film Association, which is selected and decided by a jury of experts.

During a press conference held on Tuesday, the 32nd Golden Rooster Awards and the 28th Golden Rooster and Hundred Flowers Film Festival will be held in Xiamen in east China's Fujian Province from November 19 to 23.

It is the first time the Golden Rooster will be in Xiamen, as well as the start of a reform to the domestic awards. For the next 10 years, Xiamen will continue to host the event.

The posters of this year's Golden Rooster Awards were also released on the official account of the Awards on Tuesday, which, according to its designers, is inspired by a Chinese idiom: When huge waves wash out the sand, gold remains to shine.

According to the press conference, the closing ceremony of this year's event will be broadcasted live with 5G and 4K technologies, which is also new in the history of the Golden Rooster Awards.

Starting from May 5 this year, a total of 277 films registered for the awards. During the event, a total of 30 films from some 20 countries are to be screened. Forums and seminars will also be held.

The Golden Rooster Awards was launched in 1981, and was held every two years in the odd years, while the Hundred Flowers Awards was first launched in 1962, selected by the public, and was held during the even years.

In 1992, the first Golden Rooster and Hundred Flowers Film Festival was held, combining the two events. The two events were now held in turns, both on a two-year basis.

The two awards are among the top three Chinese film awards, together with Huabiao Film Awards, which is the highest government honor in the Chinese film industry.
