The swimming events of the 7th CISM Military World Games wrapped up in Wuhan on Wednesday and saw hosts China adding five more gold medals to their haul for a total of 27 gold medals in swimming events alone.
The emphatic performance and the rich medal haul in swimming helped the Chinese contingent move atop the medals table over the past few days.
Continuing with the home side's remarkable momentum in the pool, Chinese swimmer Li Guangyuan finished first in 1 minute and 56.88 seconds to set a Military World Games record in the men's 200-meter backstroke. His fellow Chinese Wang Shun took bronze in 1 minute and 59.17 seconds.
On the women's side, Chen Jie also broke the Games record in the women's 50-meter backstroke as the 24-year-old won in 27.81 seconds.
After grabbing the gold in the women's 200-meter breaststroke on Tuesday, Yu Jingyao snatched another gold in the women's 100-meter breaststroke on Wednesday in a Games record of 1 minute and 7.17 seconds.
Wang Jianjiahe finished fastest in the women's 800-meter freestyle in 8 minutes and 24.82 seconds.
