Recently, Russian navy discovered five new islands near the Vylki glacier in the Arctic due to melting glaciers.

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, the islands were first discovered through satellite images in 2016, but people only confirmed and mapped them in a recent investigation, conducted in August and September this year.

These new islands are located near the Vylki glacier, away from the Novaya Zemlya archipelago. The areas of five islands range from 900 to 54,500 square meters.

The five islands used to be covered with a glacier, however global warming is believed to be the main reason for the ice melting.

Global warming is gradually becoming a serious problem. It can lead to the rise of the sea level, loss of land area, and ruin ecosystems. Researchers have also found that an increasing number of polar bears drowned in the water due to loss of habitat.

Is it possible that one day, polar bears will disappear from the earth just like dinosaurs did?
