Eight screening units, the "Golden Coconut Award" competition unit, and the primary visual poster were unveiled at the press conference of the 2nd Hainan Island International Film Festival in Beijing on Friday.

Cosponsored by the China Media Group and the Hainan provincial government, the press conference also announced that French actress and filmmaker Sophie Marceau would be the ambassador of the film festival.

The 2nd Hainan Island International Film Festival will be held in southern China's Sanya city from December 1 to 8. A series of activities, including film screenings, H! Action China Film Pitch and Catch (CFPC), H!Market film market and themed forums, will be held during the festival.

The "Golden Coconut Award" competition unit open for the first time sets up three categories of feature films, documentary films and short films, as well as the specially established "Best Children's Film" award. The "Golden Coconut Award" will be hosted by the China Media Group.

Different from other film festivals, outdoor beach film screenings and mobile film screenings will be held around the island as part of the festival to benefit more citizens.

Sophie Marceau will share her experiences and film creation insights in the festival's Masters Class. Other Masters Class attendees include Japanese filmmaker Akira Kurosawa, Hong Kong-based director Stanley Kwan Kam-Pang and Iranian director Ashaha Fahati.
