Chinese President Xi Jinping sent a congratulatory letter to the fourth Understanding China Conference that opened Saturday in Guangzhou, south China's Guangdong Province.

Noting that economic globalization is an irreversible trend of our times, Xi pointed out that constantly creating a better life is a common aspiration shared by the people of all countries.

China has not only benefited from economic globalization but also contributed to it, Xi said, adding that the country will stay on the path of peaceful development, and share its development dividends with all other countries.

About 600 politicians, strategists, scholars, entrepreneurs from 17 countries and regions, as well as representatives of international organizations, participated in the event around the theme of "New Globalization and China's New Round of Reform and Opening-Up" this year.

Participants are expected to attend in-depth discussions, seminars and forums with topics including the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, global governance and China's economic development.

Launched in 2013, the Understanding China Conference has served as a platform for the world to understand China's development strategies.
