Chinese President Xi Jinping sent a congratulatory letter to the 2019 World Young Scientist Summit that opened on Saturday in Wenzhou, east China's Zhejiang Province.

"A new round of scientific and technological revolution and industrial transformation is burgeoning, and the future of technology is with the youth. It is the common aspiration of all countries to carry out scientific and cultural exchanges and promote innovation and cooperation of young people," Xi said in the letter.

Based on "a global vision, national topics, and China's voice," the summit invited more than 800 youth representatives, young scientists, and enterprise representatives from over 100 countries and regions.

Xi said he hopes the guests of the summit can exchange ideas, learn from each other, and strengthen friendship and cooperation.

The summit, which will run from Saturday to Sunday, is expected to play an important role in advancing talent exchanges, facilitating industrial transformation and helping drive technological innovation and high-quality economic development in the Yangtze River Delta region.
