Santanghu wind farm is located in Barkol Kazak Autonomous County, which is part of Hami Prefecture in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of China. The wind farm officially began operation on April 6, 2012. The capacity of the wind power project has been upgraded to 4 million kilowatts and all of the energy produced has been used. Project Manager Li Peng told CGTN: "The flat terrain and dry climate here are very suitable for wind power generation. The wind farm supplies new energy to drive local economic development and employment."
