The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) police say they arrested 206 people involved in violent incidents over the past week.

Kong Wing-cheung, senior superintendent of the police public relations branch, told a press conference that 148 males and 58 females had been charged with offenses including illegal assembly, arson, possession of offensive weapons, bodily harm and criminal damage.

Seven police officers were injured during the operations, with one sustaining a rib fracture, Kong said.

The press conference was suspended for about half an hour after a woman interrupted speakers and pointed a glare flashlight at the podium.

The HKSAR government and police both expressed strong condemnation of rioters' violent and vandalistic acts in multiple districts in Hong Kong on Sunday.

Police reiterated that no violent behavior will be tolerated, and they will take resolute enforcement action to restore public order and bring all lawbreakers to justice.

A government spokesman once again appealed to protesters not to fall foul of the law and members of the public are advised to stay away from where the rioters are to protect their personal safety.
