China firmly opposes the United States' oppression on certain Chinese businesses based on groundless accusations, said the Chinese Foreign Ministry on Tuesday.

Geng Shuang, a spokesperson from the ministry, made the remarks after the U.S. telecommunications regulator announced the plan to bar China's Huawei and ZTE from the government subsidy program.

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is scheduled to vote in November to designate the two Chinese companies as national security risks, barring their U.S. rural carrier customers from tapping an 8.5 billion-U.S. dollar government fund to purchase equipment or services.

"The United States' economic bullying goes against market principles which the U.S. has always trumpeted," Geng said, adding that the move will not be agreed and supported by the international community.

China urged the U.S. to stop such moves and provide a business environment of fairness, justice, and non-discrimination for Chinese enterprises in the U.S. and do more to promote bilateral cooperation and mutual understanding, reiterated Geng.
