At least seven people died, and dozens others injured after a magnitude-6.6 earthquake struck the island of Mindanao in the southern Philippines on Tuesday, local authorities said.
The quake struck 26 kilometers northeast of Tulunan, Cotabato, at 9:04 a.m. local time with a depth of 15.3 kilometers, the U.S. Geological Survey said.
Several nearby cities and provinces were also affected by the tremor, including Davao City, Kaidapawan City, and Sarangani Province.
The earthquake has cut power supply in many of the affected areas, knocked down utility posts, damaged buildings, and shattered glass in several establishments.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology has advised residents in affected areas to remain outside of buildings.
The island of Mindanao was recently hit by a magnitude-6.3 earthquake on October 16, which left six people dead and over 160 people injured.
