NBA highlights on Oct. 28: 76ers, Spurs and Nuggets nail three straight wins

Monday's ten games put on the 2019-2020 NBA regular season. 76ers, Spurs and Nuggets all claimed their three-straight win with a terrific start at the new season. Warriors and Nicks nailed their season first win against rivals, respectively. Donovan Mitchell clutch free throw sealed the victory for Jazz against Suns.

Three straight wins: Spurs, Nuggets and 76ers 

Denver, San Antonio and Philadelphia continued their winning streak. Jamal Murray added 14 points of his 18 points in the second half, including four in the final 31 seconds, Gary Harris added a pair of late free throws and the Nuggets held on after nearly blowing a big lead in the fourth quarter, beating the winless Sacramento Kings 101-94. Joel Embiid poured 36 points, including the decisive two free throws with 5.3 seconds left, and Vince Carter’s potential game-winning 3-pointer at the buzzer hit the back rim as Philadelphia edged host Atlanta. DeMar DeRozan poured in 27 points and led a huge midgame charge for San Antonio Spurs, which beat visiting Portland to complete a sweep of its season-opening, three-game homestand.

Season first win: Warriors, Nicks 

Unsystematic Golden State at the previous two games revitalized thanks to the players' chemistry. Stephen Curry scored 26 points and Draymond Green finished a triple-double with 16 points, 17 rebounds and 10 assists, together with D'Angelo Russell's 24 points'and Damion Lee 23 points off the bench. The visiting Golden State defeated New Orleans in a matchup of previously winless teams. Bobby Portis of Nicks poured a season-high 28 points against his former team, including a go-ahead 3-pointer with 1:47 remaining, and New York Nicks beat the Bulls with 105-98.

Donovan Mitchell's clutch free throw 

Bojan Bogdanovic hit four 3-pointers en route to 29 points, and Donovan Mitchell added 25 points and made the first of two free throws with 0.4 seconds left in the game to give Utah a narrow win over host Phoenix.
