Opening-up and Development Forum was held in Beijing on Tuesday, gathering senior officials, diplomats, scholars and entrepreneurs from China and abroad to discuss measures to promote high-quality growth and boost a stronger domestic market.

Qian Keming, vice minister of the Ministry of Commerce, says the nation will push the Belt and Road Initiative forward to actively participate in global economic governance.

Yi Xiaozhun, deputy director general of the WTO, said, "China undertook deep and broad accession commitments, bringing its legal and regulatory frameworks more in line with WTO rules, which have been translated into China's increasing competitiveness in the global market."

At the same time, he continued, "As China has become the top trading partner with over 120 countries and regions and one of the largest recipients of FDI, its phenomenal growth has also provided great opportunities to the rest of the world. According to the World Bank, China has been the largest single contributor to the world growth since the global financial crisis in 2008, contributing 27.5 percent of global economic growth in 2018."

"There are a lot of VIP guests talking about China's opening-up and high-quality development in recent years. China now is the second largest economy in the world, and we are now the largest exporter, and the second largest importer. We make very big contributions to the world's economy, and have become the largest engine to the world economy," noted Jin Xu, chairman at China Association of International Trade.
