CPC consults other political parties on its draft document

The Communist Party of China's (CPC) top leaders consulted with the country's non-communist political parties on its draft document that was passed at the 4th Plenary Session of the CPC Central Committee that concluded on Thursday.

Chinese President Xi Jinping, also general secretary of the CPC Central Committee, presided over and spoke at the symposium on September 25.

Xi emphasized the need to uphold and improve the system of socialism with Chinese characteristics and advance the modernization of China's system and capacity for governance.

All other political parties, personages without party affiliation should play a bigger role in the process, he added.

The consultation was held on September 25 and was made public on November 1. 

Leaders from non-communist parties including the Revolutionary Committee of the Chinese Kuomintang, China Democratic League and China Democratic National Construction Association spoke at the consultation.

They endorsed the document drafted by the CPC and agreed on the need to uphold the system of socialism with Chinese characteristics and to advance the modernization of governance.

They also offered advice on the rule of law, technology innovation and private economy.
